14 DIY Valentine's Day Gifts, Treats, and Decorations! (How To Video Included)

Happy Friday ladies and gents! It is the weekend and thank God for that. Today we are coming to you with a really fun post. Since Valentine's Day is coming up we wanted to give you a gift guide for things you can give that special someone in your life. What better gifts than DIY gifts you made with love? Nothing! So today we will be sharing 14 DIY Valentine's Day Gift Ideas! We actually made a How To video on all of these gifts- 14 DIY Valentine's Day Gift Ideas! We definitely recommend watching it for tips and tricks on how to make these. We spent a lot of time on it, hope you enjoy!

Now the first thing we wanted to accomplish was to make projects that were adorable. The next two things we wanted were to make them affordable and easy to make. I think we accomplished that with our How To video. Everything we bought was from either Target, Meijer, Dollar Tree, Barnes and Noble or Walmart. We made sure not to spend an outrageous amount of money but enough to make sure we could make some really awesome gifts. Staring at this pile of stuff made me so excited to get started! I absolutely love crafts and DIY projects. Here is the list of the items we made!<3
Chalkboard Heart Tin- This is so adorable and takes less than 45 minutes to make and that is including the drying time! The tin was $1, the paint was around three dollars, we used some of our niece's chalk, and all the other items to make this we already owned. (Scissors, paper, and a sharpie.) We threw in some "date night" treats like candy, DIY Chocolate Covered Pretzels and my FAVORITE movie right now, About Time.

Grab your apron! We are making some Heart-shaped Crispies! I love rice crispy treats but add fun shapes and I'm all about them. These are so easy to make. You just make rice crispies as you normally would but you can add some strawberry marshmallows for taste and color. Then when they have cooled you can use cookie cutters to make the heart shape. We got 3 for $5.99 at Target. Then we used some yummy frosting to decorate them for Valentine's Day! <3 The recipe and cooking directions were covered in the video!

Since you already have your apron on, lets make some chocolate covered pretzels! These are so cute and they turned out even better than expected. For this you just heat a bag of chocolate chips up in the microwave for two minutes and then take it out, making sure to stir out any bumps or lumps. Then you dip a pretzel twist into the chocolate and then pour some sprinkles over the pretzel and use a bowl to catch the excess. We also made drizzl pretzels in our video!

Next we made some Cute-Tea bags. Get it? Punny Right? Anyways, these are adorable if you are having a cozy night in or maybe a Valentine's Day themed party. This tag says "you are my cup of tea" but if you watch on YouTube you will see another adorable heart design as well. If you were wondering, this is my favorite tea! Blueberry Slim Life- Green Tea by Yogi. So good! <3

This next treat is super is easy to make and is called "Kisses from the Mrs." Take some Hershey's Kisses (the almond kind are the best) and fill up a goody bag with them. Then make a label using a mouth/lips stickers and some card stock. On the label you created write "Kisses from the Mrs." or "Your name, xoxo" then tie it around the bag with some string.  So easy right? This is adorable and a way to put a personal touch on some candy.

This is my favorite DIY! Just because I think these are so cute! Taking some Sweet-tart heart gummies you will begin to place a pretzel stick in between them. This will create an arrow. Now you could go about the packaging a couple different ways. These could be "Cupid's Arrows" but I didn't really like the idea of that. So I made these my "Follow Your Arrow" Arrows. Kasey Musgraves sings one of my favorite songs with that title so I wanted to incoorperate it into the theme of this DIY! I made some really cute labels in the video that make the arrows so great to hand out or serve them on a tray at a party <3

This is the "Let's Mix" mix CD. I just took my favorite album of the moment- The Hurry and the Harm by City and Colour and added a cute label to it that says "Let's Mix." This is great to give to your Valentine or even a friend. It is really easy and afforable. This CD has a lot of romantic songs but you could also make a CD of all love songs or songs that remind you of the person you are giving it to!

Next is the "You're Hot- Chocolate!" You will need a tumblr or drink container. I bought this one for a dollar at the Dollar Tree. Then you will need some Hot Chocolate to be placed in a zip- lock bag, some marshmallows, a paper/foam heart, and some markers. The complete project looks so cute and creative. To see the end result you must watch the video! ;)

Message in a mailbox is probably the most affordable and the easiest DIY. All you need is a little  mailbox (we got ours for $1 at Target,)
a treat bag, some conversation hearts, and stickers. You can decorate the mailbox anyway you want with stickers and then your conversation hearts serve as your "message." Who doesn't want a "txt me" heart on Vday right?! #Sarcasm.... The hashtag was Sarcasm too.

The "Why I Love You" Journal is sort of a half way DIY. You do have to fill in the entire journal and add photos and things but the actual journal can be purchased for under $10 on Barnes and Noble.com- here is the link. If you wanted to make this yourself I am sure you could. It is a great way to share memories with one another and show someone how much they mean to you!

These next gift ideas can also be room decorations. The Vase and the hearts didn't come together but I put them together to make a cute little decoration. The hedgehogs were an early gift from my boyfriend and I actually named them Ralph and Kia! Thanks for all of your suggestions on Instagram! Then you can just set your decorations on a cute piece of felt. Mine is pink and has hearts all over it. The hedgehogs are from Target and the vase/heart sticks are from the Dollar Tree!

This next one is incoorperating a lot of the DIYs into one to create the perfect cozy night in! If I haven't stressed to you enough, About Time is my FAVORITE movie right now. It has such a good meaning and really makes you think about the meaning of life and how you should spend your time. Now, for those of you thinking "Why is Rachel McAdams in another time traveling movie?" Stop it right now. That is what I thought before I saw it in theaters and I completely changed my mind once I watched it. She is the perfect person for the role and to me the two movies are on entirely different levels. About Time > Time Travelers Wife. This movie seriously brought me to tears. It made me laugh and cry so in my book it is a pretty good one! Check it out!!! <3

Okay, so I love sharpie mugs because I think they are just so cute and handmade items are always the best. I wanted to put a cool spin on these mugs though since they are popping up everywhere. Couple's mugs are the way to go. I found this design on Google and they were selling these mugs for over $20 each. No way! I knew I could make them myself for under $20. Turns out, they only cost me $2 total. The mugs were a $1 each and I used sharpies I had.

I also did a design on the back of the mug. To ensure that the markers on your mug last through washes you can put the mugs in the oven for 30 minutes on 350. Make sure you put them in before the oven heats up and leave them in there until it cools down to avoid any cracking. These mugs are super adorable and I love them! We also made some red ones with a different design that we give instructions to in our video!

We also did a Valentine's Day Makeup Look, Hair Styles, and Outfit Ideas video which will be up soon! So if you aren't already subscribed to our YouTube channel we would love to have you<3
Make sure you guys leave us blog and video suggestions! If you like DIYs like this one please let us know and we will make more of them. My One Year Anniversary! (DIY Gift Idea, New Hair, Exciting News, etc!)

On Monday, December 23, 2013 me and my boyfriend Christopher celebrated our first anniversary together :) So I thought it would be fun to share with you how we spent the day and give you some gift ideas in case you have an anniversary coming up!

We both had busy days with our families with it being the holidays. So we spent the night in and it was really nice.

This is Chris frosting the cookies we made. We were making cookies for my parents and his parents. This is what we spent the majority of the night doing. The cookies actually turned out pretty good and they tasted great! Like my Breaking Bad Cookie? BLUE METH CANDY CANE ;) I know. I'm way too obsessed.

Of course I had to make a minion cookie. We all know I love my minions!!! He is just too cute, I couldn't eat him!

We made reindeer cookies with Nilla Wafers, Red Hots, and Pretzels. This little guy is so cute.

Of course, I had to make an anniversary cookie. My family and nieces call me KiKi so Chris does too.

Before you start to think that I have a cute boyfriend who bakes with me.... take a look at his other creations.
My dad said "Don't you know it is Christmas?!"

My Grandma (not knowing what it was) said "It's cute!!"

He never fails to make me laugh.

I had a hard time finding something to get him for our anniversary! It was not easy thinking of something unique and thoughtful when I had already bought his Christmas presents. I decided to make him something to remind him of me while he is away at school (:

This is me working on the picture frame! I made him a frame that has song lyrics that remind me of him. It took me a few hours because I wanted to make sure I picked lyrics that were meaningful and songs that we both like and listen to together.

I used our favorite colors to write the lyrics on the border of the frame! :)

This is how it turned out! Some of the lyrics include

"Home is wherever I'm with you,"

"Love don't know what distance is."

"You are the other half, you're like a missing piece."

and may more!

I also got him a really cute Breaking Bad shirt with all of the characters because we watched the entire series together.

It was the last one left and it was in his size! I got it at Hot Topic but they are all sold out online now, so I couldn't leave you guys a link :(

I also got him a Breaking Bad car air freshener that says "Have an A1 day!"

I think the card shows that he knows me all too well.
But in case that wasn't enough he also made a minion out of
Legos. I love him.

He also got me this Rose Gold and Silver Promise Ring. It is an infinity sign or knot just like my tattoo :) It matches the bracelet he got me for our six month.  I love it and I love him for getting it for me :) Thank you Christopher!

Blogmas #3- 10 DIY "Stocking Stuffers" We Love!

Christmas is getting very close and I'm sure some of you are running out of gift ideas, time, and maybe even cash. So we thought we would share with you some of our favorite DIY projects that can easily be given as gifts. These were all made by us or by our friends and family. 8 out of 10 of these can even be made for under $10! So lets get crafty!

The first two ideas were inspired by our older sister Shanon. She makes homemade body scrubs and lip scrubs. These are two of her bests! For both of these scrubs a container like the ones pictured above are required. These two are from VG's and both cost under $2 each.
 1. Sweet Sugar Lip Scrub-  To make you must pour 1 teaspoon of sugar into your container, add in two tablespoons of honey, add a little Vaseline, and begin mixing. Now you can substitute olive oil in if you (like me) hate honey. She also likes to add a dash of Cinnamon. To apply you just rub it on your lips. The sugar is exfoliating and once the scrub is wiped off, your lips will be MUCH softer. I use homemade lip scrub quite often because I get really chapped lips :/ I really recommend these ones!
 2. Lemon Body Scrub- To make you mix 1 lemon, 5 tablespoons of sea salt, and 1 tablespoon olive oil. To apply I just take a shower and use it on my body as if it were soup. It smells so good and works better than any store-bought citrus body wash I have ever used.
Body and Lip Scrubs can be such a luxurious gift but also so pricey. This is a way to cut down on the price while making a thoughtful gift that is guaranteed to be appreciated. Slap a bow on the top and BAM Christmas gift finished!

We have been hearing more and more about homemade sharpie mugs. I actually got these for Christmas last year as gift from a friend. I love these because they are so cute and creative. I use them to hold my nail files and makeup brushes but you can actually drink your coffee out of these!
3. Sharpie Mugs! To make these you can just pick up any mug from the store. Try to get the cheaper ones because those will actually keep the sharpie design on longer due to their lack of glaze. Now these can be permanent as well and to accomplish that all you must do is set your oven to 425 degrees and let the cup "bake" for 30 minutes. After a half hour has passed you can return to the oven and make sure it is turned off. Do not touch the mug unless it has cooled for about 20 minutes. If you pick it up when it is scolding hot you may burn yourself or risk cracking the glass.
You can make Christmas themed glasses or any design you would like. Mine are mostly covered in song lyrics that I love<3 This is a great gift for anyone but I suggest to make them for your Grandparents, they will love them!

Is it just me or when someone asks for a gift card do you top feel stopped in your creative tracks? I mean gift cards and cash are great but they don't leave to much room for creativity or surprise. Instead of just handing them the gift card that they will inevitably lose because it is so small,

lets spice up the packaging! 4. Gift Card Box. Now of course you can do holiday themed ones but I like to pick boxes that match the recipients room or one with a cool design. These boxes can be used for storage all year round and they are so cute! I use boxes like these ones to hold my desk supplies. Once you have your box picked out (mine is from Staples) you can choose your ribbon. This is a thick ribbon I bought from
Hobby Lobby. To make the bow around the box it is super easy! Just cut a slit about halfway down one side of the ribbon. (Picture Above)You then pull the other side of the ribbon through that slit, tie a bow, and then tape at the bottom. It is that simple! But this will really add something to any small present.

 5. Change Bin. This was created by taking a small red bin purchased at the dollar store and using stickers to create the "Change" label and the dollar sign on the inside! This is an easy little stocking stuffer that is great for kids. You could even fill it will gift cards and cash if you are feeling generous ;)

 6. Nighttime Care Mini Bathtub. I made this by taking one of the same red tubs and placing stickers on it to spell out "AMY" which is my sister's name. Since the shape of the bin resembles that of a bathtub, I added foam facial pads to create the "bubbles" in the bath. Now you can also use cotton balls but since these foam pads are a big part of my night routine I wanted to incorporate them. Then I just added some of my nighttime essentials like my Sweet Mint eos balm, some hand cream, nail files, ect. This is a fun and cost effective way to have a friend or family member try out some of the stuff you love since the products are in the mini sizes!

Okay, so if you watch our YouTube channel or read our blog regularly then you should know I have a crazy obsession with Despicable Me Minions. I was even one for Halloween. Now, I love to read and share book recommendations with friends and having nieces and a nephew- I will usually end up buying at least one book for Christmas. So I was trying to think of a way to jazz up a "boring old book" so I decided to make a bookmark. This little guy is an evil minion and was so simple to make.
7. Minion Bookmark.  To make you will cut a piece of cardstock paper into the shape of a bookmark. To do this I just measured the length of the book and then added a bit of length so that the eyes could pop out of the book. Then you will punch 5 holes in the top of the bookmark with a hole-punch. I used black pipe cleaners to create the hair but the evil minions do have purple hair so feel free to use purple! I added a piece of purple yarn in the "hair" to create a bow.
I made the eyes by using silver duct tape and cutting it into circles. Then once those are placed where you want them, use glue to stick on your googly eyes. The "goggles" were created by using a purple sharpie marker. Now I mixed the evil and regular minions features to create this because the evil minion only has one eye. With the size of my eyes it looked better to have two. So feel free to make this bookmark using all yellow supplies! Now the rest of the bookmark is free range! Make it say or look like whatever you want it to! Mine says "Even evil minions read...how do you think we got so smart?" This is a great little craft for kids and I'm sure they would love to receive this in a book or stocking! One thing is for sure, Jessica's cat liked it ;)

This next one is kind of a gag gift and would be great as a part of a white elephant gift exchange.
8. Snowman Poop. This is the easiest and most affordable little stocking stuffer. All you need is paper, markers, and a pack of white tic tacs. I made the label using blue cardstock paper and markers. You can make these labels by hand or on the computer. Just make sure to cut the label to fit the size of the mint container. I always receive gum and mints in my stocking so this is just something simple and quick to make a simple treat more fun. Kids will eat this up, literally!

 9. Memorial Picture frame.                                          10. Let It Snow Shadowbox frame.

These two have already been featured in our blog but we love them so much we thought we should let you know where to find them.
