Drugstore Beauty Haul and Makeup Storage!

Today's blog is inspired by our "Drug Store Beauty Haul" video on our YouTube channel!
We are just going to go a little more in depth and give you some organizing tips!

We are beauty bloggers so obviously we love makeup and beauty products. But like most people, we don't like to spend an outrageous amount of money on them. So drugstore beauty products can be a  great alternative to some high-end brands. Jessica and I did a little bit of shopping this week and I decided to share what I bought with you guys! Above is the whole lot of what I purchased from various stores including Walmart, Dollar Tree, Meijer, and Target. Let's get started!!!

My first purchase was this 10 piece makeup kit by the brand Caboodles! I bought this at Walmart for $19.99. I have been looking for a new way to store and travel with my makeup because my old makeup bags just weren't big enough. Most of the sets I found were about $15 for two pieces. I just wanted something worth the price. I finally found this one and I am very happy with it. I just put all of my products in this set and they all fit :) This will make it a lot easier to visit my boyfriend/ parents on the weekend.

These four makeup bags are great for storing my makeup and my everyday essentials. The first holds my pallets and the makeup I use daily. The second carries all of my favorite lip products. The third is filled with my brushes and eyeliners. Finally, the last one is filled with toiletry items that are great to have on hand when traveling or doing my makeup. Like this makeup bag? Check out this one in a different pattern! http://www.walmart.com/ip/Caboodles-Le-Sophistique-Cosmetic-Bag-Set-10-pc/24511833

These are the items in my last bag that I use almost daily. Wet wipes are really an essential for me. Being a nanny I use these all the time. I also use these during my makeup routine to wipe the foundation or any other makeup off my hands. Facial Buff Sponges have many different uses for me. I use these to exfoliate my skin and take off my makeup. Jessica also uses these to clean her makeup brushes by putting them at the bottom of a cup that is filled with brush cleaner. They help absorb the makeup left on the brush when the brush is rubbed against them. My favorite use for these sponges is to cure my chapped lips. To find out my home remedy for that check out our October Favorites video here ---->   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lskkQbCUnY&feature=c4-overview&list=UU8fU3oUSeV5q0HkKKwOGqzQ

The red storage bin I purchased was from Dollar Tree for $1! I liked to keep my stuff all in one space that is easily assessable. Living with a toddler who gets into everything, it is a lot safer to keep this stuff in my bedroom than in the bathroom which is a shared space. If you would like us to do a blog or video on our shower care essentials and routine leave us a comment!

Above are my two favorite hair protects that I can't go without. TRESemme Thermal Creations heat protection spray to use when I use my straighter, curling wand, waver, ect. This keeps my hair from getting so damaged from the high temperature of these tools. The other hair product I love is my Pantene Detangling Spray. This smells amazing and is one thing that I use everyday. These do come in fairly large bottles so I had been on the hunt for some travel sized spray bottles. I found these two at Walmart for less than a dollar each. I just poured each of these products into a bottle and after removing the label I used a permanent marker to label the bottles. Now I can take these with me and take up less space!
Check out my two favorite haircare products here ----------------------------------------------------->

Since we are on the subject of traveling light, I thought I would share the travel sized items I keep in my handbag! Wet wipes, of course. I also keep TREsemme's travel sized hair spray, some tissue and TREsemme's Volumizing dry shampoo. These were all $1 each at Walmart! If you are interested in seeing the other things we keep in our purses then you can head over to our YouTube channel and watch our "What's In My Bag?" video. ------------------------------------------------------------>

These are some of the purchases I made when going on my little shopping trip. I got Revlon's Nail Art Stencils in the bow design for $1. The L.A. Colors Nail Art in the color White was also $1. Meijer was having a buy one get one 50% off deal on NYC products so I picked up two of those. One eye shadow pallet and one blush. I also got a blush by the brand Aziza and a Wet and Wild eye brow kit. Lastly, I got two more L.A. Colors' products. A lip gloss by them in clear and an eyeliner in the color Black. To see a more in depth description and swatches of there makeup products check out our haul video. --------->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAWZeetr64Q&feature=c4-overview&list=UU8fU3oUSeV5q0HkKKwOGqzQ

These three broducts are things I have been needing for a while and I just wanted to try some drugstore dupes. The elf setting spray is supposed to keep your makeup in place all day long. I usually use De Slick's setting spray and I actually really recommend that one. It is a little bit pricey but you get get it in the sample size for around $12. This one by elf was only $3. I have not used it yet so I will let you guys know how I like it! I use an elf concealer right now and it isn't as great of coverage as my previous concealer from Mac. But I can't justify spending $18 for less than a lip stick sized tube of it. Jessica uses the Age Rewind by Maybelline and whenever she mentioned it in a tutorial I would always think about picking it up. So I finally, got it. (Thanks mom!) I am really pumped to try it out!!! I also just picked up some non-scented nail polish remover because I have not had a full bottle in a while.

Try the De Slick setting spray by Urban Decay---->

I also picked up these! I got the hair donut from the Dollar Tree for $1 and the ELLE head bands from a local discount store. The "sock bun" look is very in right now. (check out our Sunday Funday blog to learn more). I am going to try out the hair donut and if I like it and can get it right (cross your fingers) I will do a hair tutorial!

The Friend Zone!

 Childhood Friends

These are the friends we grow up with. These are the people that saw us in those ever so awkward years between 5th and 9th grade and still stick with us. Keeping in touch with these friends can be tricky when everyone heads their separate ways for college or university. But the great thing is we have known these people since (nearly) infancy so they hold a special place in our hearts. This means they are considered family in the way that even though we may not see them as often as you would like when we do it is like nothing has changed and you can pick up right where you left off. Speaking of family, sisters and brothers make great friends as well. You know everything there is to know about each other and you share some DNA. Need a kidney? Chances are you can probably get it from them….

School Friends

Well, obviously these are the friends we meet at school. In grade school, most of the friends we make are our age or at least around it. But with more and more middle-aged women and men going back to school it is much more likely that you could be sitting in a classroom with people closer to your parent’s age than yours. Don’t be intimated or just right them off because they are older or younger than you. Some of the greatest people I have met in college are twice my age. These women are funny, smart, and wiser than I could ever be. They have had hardships in their lives that caused them to have to return to school. Like divorce, loss of their spouse or unemployment due to the declining job market in Michigan. So my point is make friends with these people! They are the ones more likely to help you and give you advice. They are also less likely to try to copy your homework are much more likely to share theirs with you(:

Work Friends

Working a 9 to 5 is probably the last thing anyone wants to have on the top of their to-do list. I work 6 to 5 so it would probably be on mine. I like my sleep. Anyways, making friends at work is crucial if you want to maintain your sanity will schlepping popcorn to unfriendly customers. My first real job was at a local movie theater. It was a relatively easy job, just exhausting. Occasionally, there would be those customers that made my skin crawl. This one in particular asked me if I was brain-dead because I asked him to repeat one item of his fourteen ordered because he shot them off a mile a minute and it was hard to keep up. I had worked a double that day and only had a few hours left. I started crying, crying! If I could go back to that moment I would have told him to fuck off and choke on his $10 popcorn. Well, realistically I wouldn’t have because I would have lost my job. But thank God for the people I worked with that day that could see the sadness on my face and did everything they could to cheer me up. Sometimes you even spend important days with these people. I once spent Christmas at the theater, and it was actually fun even being one of the busiest days of the year. Unfortunately, not everyone you work with is going to like you and I’m sure you will come across those you don’t see eye to eye. Just remember you don’t have to hang out with them outside of work and keep things professional. Don’t get into fights with coworkers, especially when you enter your career job not just your part-time job at White-Castle. P.S. Don’t have office romances either, but that is a whole other topic…

Best Friends

These are the friends with the amazing super power to make you forgive them for anything and everything. I know no matter what my best friend does to upset me or piss me off (which she doesn’t often) we will still always be friends. Friends like this can be made anywhere and are a combination of all the ones previously mentioned. Those friendships grow into something special enough to where you consider this person your “BEST” friend. A lot of people just throw around the title to any drunken girl they Instagram a picture with. I am guilty of considering a lot of girls my “best friends” in the past. Lately, I have come to realize someone who only talks to you when it is convenient for them is not worthy of that label. My best friends are three girls I have known my entire life. Who I know will always be there for me whenever I need them, no matter what time of night. These girls are my sisters. Then of course I have three friends who are THE BEST that I met in middle school and they have stuck with me through the years (: Finally, my boyfriend is my best friend. I can tell him anything and know that he won’t judge me for it. Friends that care about you and love you unconditionally- those are the types of friends you want in your life.

Friendzoned

Ahhh, the dreaded friend zone. This is the type of friendship that is one-sided. You or your friend feel something more for the other but are too afraid to say something out of fear of losing the friendship for good. Maybe one of you has said something and now it is awkward. Maybe the other person didn’t feel the same way. Maybe, just maybe, they felt the same way and now the friendship has turned into a relationship. Whatever the result may be, the best option is to just go for it! You never know what may happen and if it is meant to be then it will be.

Signs You Might Be In the Friendzone

You guys go to matinée movies together and never go out alone at night.
Nothing physical. You don’t hold hands, you definitely don’t kiss.
He calls you bud or buddy and not in a cute way.
He is always texting other girls and talking to you about it.
He asks you for relationship or dating advice.
He says you are “just one of the guys.”
You ask him for a favor and he doesn’t come through. If a guy really like you he would do anything to get your attention.
Here are a few for the boys!
If she calls you up and invites you to “girl’s night” Bring the icecream and a copy of the notebook because you are in the friendzone.
She is always complaining to you about her asshole boyfriend and never giving any sort of hit hit that she may be into you.
She is always trying to get you to date her friends, or trying to get you to find a girlfriend.

Pin Up Inspired Fashion, Hair Styles, and Makeup!

The Pin Up girl inspired look has been making a huge comeback in the fashion
world over the last few years. Jessica is OBSESSED with Pinup girls and has even
done a Pin Up shoot herself. So she had the great idea to make a look inspired
by these classic women.

Here is a look at her shoot! (:

The clothing pin up girls are known to wear are bright colors as well as
black and white. Polka dots are a must for these girls and the tighter the
dress the better. There are girls who dress like this everyday and don't
consider it a costume, but a fashion statement.

If you are lucky enough to have red hair like Jessica then you are half way to obtaining the right hair for this look. These are the classic pin up curls. We love this Youtuber who loves this look and can show you how to get these perfect curls. Watch it here- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8kSr73qwHI

But You don't have to have red hair to rock this style! Even Kim Kardashian has been seen sporting the classic pin up bangs. This is another classic hair style of these women but it does take a little bit more time to get this look. We found a great tutorial on how to get a variation of this and you can watch it by clicking this link---->

Big head bands, bandanas, and flowers are the perfect
accessory to any pin up look. Etsy has a great selection!
